Established in July 2018 within The National Institutes for Cultural Heritage (NICH), the National Center for the Promotion of Cultural Properties (CPCP) will celebrate its five-year anniversary in 2023.

Handing down our cultural properties, humanity’s treasures, to future generations for millennia to come is an important mission for those of us living now. Mindful of the need to both preserve and make good use of these cultural properties, the CPCP has pursued a variety of activities since its launch that aim to provide a growing number of people with the opportunity to gain a wealth of experience and understanding through Japan’s cultural properties.

Moving into our sixth year, we are engaged in a wide range of activities in five areas: Planning, Loan Promotion, Preservation, Digital Resources, and Fundraising. These activities are all centered on our mission of "preserving" and "making good use" of our cultural properties. Step by step, we are expanding the scope of our activities and collaborating with local museums as well as a wide range of companies and organizations.

In today's world, there is a global need to create opportunities and spaces where all sorts of people, regardless of nationality, cultural background, age, or gender, can have common access to and get to know all sorts of cultural properties. The CPCP will continue to develop more inclusive programs to meet the needs of an even wider range of people while building on our past achievements.

We will continue to make further efforts so that even more people can enjoy cultural properties in even more appealing ways.
